Daily fantasy sports operators are gearing up for what should be their biggest season yet with new sponsors and a ridiculous amount of potential revenue.
If you’re thinking about dipping your toes in this rapidly expanding igaming vertical, here’s three deals (and potential deals) you’ll find very interesting.
DraftKings Lands MLB
DraftKings has inked a massive new sponsorship deal with 27 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams. (The Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Toronto Blue Jays had to bow out because DFS is illegal in those three places.)
As part of the arrangement, DraftKings will have access to a wealth of MLB content and statistics. This second point is particularly important because major league sports view their statistics feeds as a major source of revenue.
It also increases DraftKings’ status with the estimated 56 million Americans who play DFS baseball.
CBS Interactive Jumps On DFS
CBS Interactive has announced plans to offer DFS games and content on its SportsLine site. Besides daily fantasy baseball tournaments, the popular fantasy site will be offering a new DFS stats and content to its paid end-users.
CBS Interactive is a major player in the American fantasy sports market. That means their move into DFS could impact the market significantly when American football season rolls around.
Foxwoods Eyes DFS
Will DFS make the move to land-based casinos? That’s a question attendees at the upcoming Daily Fantasy Sports Expo in Miami are asking now that officials from Foxwoods casino will be attending the event.
While there’s been no announcement from Foxwoods about a potential DFS product, it seems as though someone at the company is at least exploring the option.
